Lesson 1: Introduction to Music — What to Expect at WAW Music School

Our first lesson is all about helping students feel comfortable, confident, and excited about learning music. Whether they are beginning violinvoicecellofluteguitarpiano, or music theory, Lesson 1 establishes a strong, encouraging foundation.

What We Do in Lesson 1

1. Welcome & Getting to Know Each Other

We begin by meeting the student, learning about their interests, and creating a positive, relaxed environment. This helps us understand their learning style and musical goals right from the start.

2. Rhythm & Movement Warm-Up

Students explore basic concepts through:

  • Clapping patterns

  • Simple rhythm games

  • Call-and-response exercises

This develops timing, coordination, and listening skills.

3. Student Level Assessment

Every student is unique, so Lesson 1 includes a gentle, supportive evaluation to understand where they are in their musical journey.

We observe:

  • Whether the student is a complete beginnerearly learner, or more advanced

  • What skills they already have

  • What habits are strong and should be reinforced

  • What techniques need gentle correction or guidance

Our goal is to meet each student where they are and build a customized lesson plan just for them.
